Torchwood star John Barrowman has accused the BBC of "punishing" the hit sci-fi show after it slashed the number of episodes in the new series as part of its move from BBC2 to BBC1.

Following ITV's unbelievably stupid cancellation of hit family SF show Primeval, it's been revealed series makers Impossible Pictures offered to make a fourth series for less than £600,000 an episode - but even that was not enough of a bargain to convince the broadcaster to re-order the show.

Merlin Grabs Five Million US fans on first outing

The BBC's Merlin, the first UK-produced drama to air on US network television in more than 30 years, scored some five million viewers for its launch on NBC on Sunday - but was beaten in the ratings by Fox repeats of animated shows Family Guy and American Dad.
